Ionizers in Air purifiers are a health hazard

Many low-cost air purifiers on the market advertise an air ionizer or ozone generator as an additional means of air purification. While it is true that ionizers can decrease the amount of airborne pollutants, it is not necessary if the air purifier already has a HEPA filter. HEPA filters are highly effective, with a 99% success rate, and incorporating an ionizer does not enhance the purification process.

According to recent medical research, ionizers produce a harmful gas called Ozone. This gas is known to irritate the lungs and worsen allergy and asthma symptoms. An article on the Mayo Clinic website, which is a reputable medical source, lists the negative effects of using air ionizers. It is important to note that air purifiers from European and American brands such as Philips, Delonghi, Hitachi, and Beurer do not include air ionizers. At Zebsol, we have made the decision to not include an air ionizer for the same reason.
